Bennie W. Chiles III, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a board-certified neurosurgeon in Hartsdale, NY, at Westchester Spine and Brain Surgery, PLLC, a multi-hospital private neurosurgical practice which he founded in 2005. The practice provides state-of-the-art surgical evaluation and treatment for a wide variety of conditions related to the spine and brain, with emphasis on surgical spine problems such as disc herniations and spinal stenosis, often requiring complex operative treatments such as laminectomies, discectomies, and fusions. Dr. Chiles also specializes in innovative techniques such as minimally invasive spinal surgery and artificial disc replacement. Dr. Chiles is an attending neurosurgeon at numerous hospitals throughout Westchester, including White Plains Hospital Center, Lawrence Hospital Center, Sound Shore Medical Center, St. John’s Riverside Hospital, Community Hospital of Dobbs Ferry, and Westchester Medical Center. He is also an attending neurosurgeon at New York University (NYU) Langone Medical Center and the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases (NYU-HJD) in New York City.
Dr. Chiles is a New York City native and Harvard University graduate, who attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He then completed his residency in neurosurgery, as well as a combined orthopedic-neurosurgical fellowship in complex spine surgery, both at New York University (NYU) Medical Center. He has performed over 2,000 operative procedures since entering practice in Westchester thirteen years ago.
Dr. Chiles currently serves as Chief of Neurosurgery at both Lawrence Hospital Center and Sound Shore Medical Center. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the New York University (NYU) Department of Neurosurgery, as well as a Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery at New York Medical College. He was certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery in 2002, and was named a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2004. He is an active member of the New York State Neurosurgical Society, where he serves as both Secretary and as a member of the Board of Directors. Dr. Chiles has been included in the prestigious Best Doctors in America list since 2007.
