    Dr. Jay Zampini is an orthopaedic spine surgeon with the University Spine Institute at Hahnemann University Hospital. After completing a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine, he continued his training with a fellowship in Spine Surgery at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Harvard Medical School. At Harvard, he gained experience in nonoperative and surgical care for patients with common and complex spinal conditions by training with both Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical spine specialists. Dr. Zampini then returned to the faculty of Drexel University College of Medicine and staff of the University Orthopaedic and Spine Institutes where he serves as both a clinician and educator.

    Dr. Zampini’s practice includes evaluation and treatment of degenerative conditions of the neck and back including arthritis, neck and back pain, arm and leg pain, numbness, and tingling, herniated discs, spinal nerve injuries, and spinal cord injuries. Dr. Zampini also treats osteoporosis related fractures of the spine with both nonoperative and surgical procedures. Dr. Zampini’s background in Orthopaedic Surgery gives him the expertise to differentiate between common problems of the shoulder and hip that often cause patients to experience symptoms similar to those of spinal conditions. Dr. Zampini is committed to determining the right diagnosis and prescribing individualized treatment for each patient.

    In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Zampini serves as an educator and scientist. He is the Associate Program Director of Drexel’s Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Training Program and is involved in muscle, bone, and joint education for the next generation of doctors at Drexel University College of Medicine. He has presented scientific research at nationally renowned meetings and has published historical and scientific papers in internationally renowned scientific journals.
