"My goal is to provide my patients with the least invasive, most successful approach for their spine problem. In the past this often meant spinal fusion through open surgery. Now, minimally invasive surgery can achieve a better outcome and a quicker recovery. In many cases motion preservation with Dynesys dynamic stabilization rather than rigid fusion is one of the options discussed."

What is this?
Dr. Michael H. Winer, MD, Scottsdale, AZ, 85260
Michael H. Winer, MD is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the diagnosis, conservative and surgical treatment of thoracic and lumbar spinal problems. He treats both private and workers compensation patients. His expertise includes traditional and minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat back pain, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, spondylolisthesis, failed back surgery and other degenerative or traumatic conditions. Dr. Winer is one of the developers and key surgeons of the minimally invasive ATAVI spine surgery system. Using this technique he can perform spinal surgeries, including most fusions, through small incisions (about 1 inch) rather than the standard long, muscle-damaging incision. He also performs Dynesys dynamic stabilization in most cases in a minimally invasive manner using the Atavi technique. Dynamic stabilization is being done in many cases that previously required a spine fusion.
