Dr. Rafael Levin, MD, Emerson, NJ, 07630

Dr. Rafael Levin is a board certified Adult and Pediatric Spine Surgeon. After completing his Bachelor and Masters degrees at M.I.T, he graduated from Johns Hopkins University's School of Medicine in 1998. Dr. Levin completed his residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery at Boston Medical Center, and continued his training with a fellowship in spine surgery at NYU- Hospital for Joint Diseases.

Dr. Levin specializes in the use of minimally invasive surgical treatments for spinal conditions, including Kyphoplasty and X-stop. Other minimally invasive procedures include micro-decompressions, micro-discectomies, endoscopic discectomies, percutanuous fixation, and percutanuous axial fusions. About 30% of his surgeries are being done on an outpatient basis so that patients can return home hours after their surgery.

He has contributed to and participated in numerous publications and studies, including basic research studies, clinical data analysis, and review articles. Dr. Levin is also an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Levin believes that patient education and quality time spent reviewing a patients individualized spine complaints are critical in establishing a strong doctor patient relationship, one that will more often lead to a successful outcome with high patient satisfaction.
