Dr. Shawn P. Johnston received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1995. He then went on to complete an internship at Oakwood Hospital from 1995-96, and his his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota from 1996-1999.

Dr. Johnston arrived in Alaska and joined Rehabilitation Medicine Associates in 1999. Some of his specialties include pain management and sports medicine.

The Alaska Spine Institute (ASI) is the only facility in the state of Alaska with a primary focus on diagnosis and treatment of spinal care, pain management, and neuromuscular rehabilitation, all integrated under one roof. Our facility includes a doctor's office, diagnostic facility including comprehensive imaging services, surgery center, and physical therapy and rehabilitation treatment center.
