Hip / Pelvis pain

Hi
I have had arthritis in my lower spine for about 15 years, the last month or so I have been getting increasing pain in my hip / pelvis really painful when sitting I have to lay straight in bed on my side, but can only lay in one position for about 20 mins,
I don't know it this pain is due to the arthritis in mt spine. has anyone had anything similar ??

Hi Ann,

I'm sorry to hear about your arthritis. Are you getting any sleep? It sounds like it is time to go ask a Dr. Are you taking any medication for the arthritis? A little ibuprofen helps me on bad days. Sometimes it feels like every joint I have is a little swollen. Exercise can help too. Is your hip pain all over or in just one spot?

I hope you find relief soon.

Hey Ann

A few years ago I had pain in my left hip. I have been diagnosed with severe OA several years ago and have had a few spinal surgeries. My rheumatologist
examined the range of motion in my hip and followed up with some x-rays.
My hip joint is just fine, the problem originates in my lower spine.
See a rheumatologist, have it checked out, and get your answers.

Is your hip/pelvic pain more severe when you walk? Are there any exercises that help? I have had hip/pelvic pain for some months - before and after surgery - and have consulted many people about it. Tell us a bit more about your pain.

bursitis??????

I have similar problems and I get woken up if I lay on my left side because it feels like my hip joint is bone on bone. A back specialist told me I have bursitis and injected cortisone.

warning

A torn labrum exibits many of the same syptoms as sciatica, arthritis, bursitis. You feel pressure when sitting and sometimes it pops to relief, but deep pop. It catches also. Many docs are not familiar yet with it as it is just coming into being used as diagnosis. I speak from exp. 2 years of arth. and bursitis diagnosis in hip, then big city doc diagnosed it as torn labrum did surgury and pain free and running in 10 days. Can only be seen on MRI with contrast.

Always question diagnosis if not getting better with treatment or they write you off as bursitis.

thoracolumbar junction syndrome

Hello there, and yes I have been having hip ,pelvic pain for quite awhile. My NS has suggested bursitis and given me injections. Somewhat helpful for a very short time (hours). My pain has gotten increasingly worse, unbearable at times. I found some information on T12-L1 facet joint.....I believe this is what my pain stems from and I will be asking my PM doctor about it. You may find it helpful as well. Problems at the T12-L1 level mimic lumbar and sciatic pain. I researched this because on a dermatome chart T12 level affects hip and groin area....I hope you find some answers and some relief, let me know if you do! Sagehen
