Hubby has been faithfully doing his PT and noticed last night that there was a sore spot above and to the right side of his back. Mentioned it this morning to the therapist and he did some massage and some stretching of the back to ease it. That was this morning and now the pain has gone around to the front of his ribs in a band and is sending sharp jolts through his back. Is this what they call a spasm? We have put both heat and ice on it but don't really know what else to do. And, as it is Friday, the family doctor is not in.
Not a doctor but...spasms are exactly what they sound like pulsating muscular pain. When I get them (just had one 30 mins ago) I am out and I am screaming in pain..moaning..the whole deal. I once sat on a toilet and my back seized up and I screamed so loud my husband came running upstairs. U tend to also be immobile. Best relief is muscle relxants...since you can't go to doc I would try aleve (anti inflamatory) with ice and some type of over the counter muscle relaxer...can't think of what it is called...guy on box holding his back.
Good luck
