I had my alif on Sept 29

I had my alif on Sept 29 and plif on Oct 1. I think the velcro feeling comes from the incision itself. My back never has bothered me. The incision in front just takes longer to heal. Mine has not bothered me for a week or so. The incision itself was just a huge knot up until a week ago and it is finally almost back to normal. I hope you continue to heal and improve. God Bless!

I'm nearly a year out

and my front incision still bothers me. Sometimes it is downright painful. Mine extends from the top of my pubic bone up to the bottom of my left ribcage. It's ugly, puckered, and it HURTS!

alif 7 days ago

Hi there,
I had an ALIF 7 days ago. It has already done wonders for my back pain and I am really pleased with the small horizontal access scar the vascular surgeon made ( it was originally going to be vertical until I got my way Smile
Anyway I do have a problem with constant horrible sciatica down the right leg, particularly when I lie on that side or sit or somehow 'stretch' the leg in any way. Its way worse than pre-op. Steroids and neurontin haven't helped.
Has anyone else found this problem and if so did it eventually settle down? I just hope the exiting spinal nerve root isn't caught up somewhere.
Many thanks and good luck to all of you !

screw in spinal nerve post alif

Hi eveyone
Wel the source of my pain was identified as a screw malpoistioned in my spinal canal pressing on the exiting L5 nerve root. i had to undergo reoperation 5 days ago to remove it. There was so much scarring from the previous op that they had to cut me rectus muscle and go through the bowel. I am in agony beyond belief. My whole abdo wall is also numb
I hope this gets better soon, Im upset Im missing Xmas and am in so much pain because my surgeon messed up the first time
