You might

want to call the doc. Perhaps a dressing of some sterile gauze over the top of it, secured with some tape would be the better thing to do than a tissue in the short term. I would be tempted to use a bit of hydrogen peroxide, but that's just me -- it might not actually be good for your wound, so you really probably should call the doc.

Are You Able

to call the doc? I am sure that somebody would be on call. It seems the safest thing to do in order to rule out infection. Maybe another member that is more familiar with this will stop by shortly. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

I agree with others

Calling your doc would be your best bet. You don't want to let this go if you have a possible infection. The only way to know is to call. I had a stitch come thru my skin (they were internal) and it got red and puffy so I called my doc. They didn't mess around and had me come right in. It was no big deal for me, they just snipped it off but calling and having them check me out was a relief. You don't want to have any complications after having such a serious surgery.

Good luck and keep us posted.

different surgery same problem

hi Tready, I agree with the others, call your doc.
That being said, about 17 years ago I had a large (grapefriut sized) benign tumor removed from my back, 2 or 3 days after my stapels were removed, the scar bursed open, a lot of blood streaked fluid poured out. It freaked me out so I went to the ER (it was a Sunday) The doc said that the "fluid" was normal but restapled me to prevent infection and help minimize the scar. So do talk to your doc, your fluid may be different, but I wouldnt panic.
Good luck, let us know how it goes,
God Bless and Keep you,
Shirley

My wound actually was

My wound actually was infected and has been leaking for about two weeks now. I am really glad I have so many pairs of pjs as I have gotten through a pair a day at least! It is amazing how much comes out! It has meant that I haven't really wanted to put proper clothes on because I don't want to ruin them.

load lifted....

I'm glad you called the nurse and she was able to come and check it out. I'm sure that's a load lifted off your shoulders and now you can feel at ease and focus on healing and recovering from surgery.

Did the nurse leave you a direct call back phone number? I am guessing yes if you have an IV at home? If not, you might want to consider going to the ER. Something doesn't sound right there...
