I am having this procedure done day before Thanksgiving. Has anyone had this done? Concerned about recovery time. I am scheduled to work (Retale) Black Fri for 9 hours. Dr. Said I "should" be o.k. Doesn't sound quite right to me. It is on my L4-L5 disc. Using the little drill thing. Has anyong had this done and can enlighten me? Thanks for your response
I think its kyphoplasty, do an internet search, I think I had read where you have a local and they drill out some of the vertabre and replace it with a type of cement that expands the area allowing for decompression, I looked into this, and it seems it may really be of help and pain. its used for spinal fractures. Thanks for info I had 2 broken feet at same time and inactivity for 3 months caused the herniated disc. Unfortunately I can not tolerate any pain meds at all. I know they drill out some of the disc tissue but do not put any cement or anything in. Supposed to only take around 10 mins to do. I am really curious as to rehab time. They do not touch the vertabrae only the disc. By drilling some out it is supposed to reduce the pressure on the nerve. thanks again and good luck to you. this is being done by a pain mgt team.
I sent you a PM pertaining to the procedure.
