questions regarding Epidural Inj. post lumbar fusion?

I had lumbar surgery in March 08 recently last 3-4 months the pain and discomfort has been returning with even more muscle weakness in Rt. leg. I am suppose to recieve a epidural on thursday, I have had them in past with no success. How often do the injections work post surgery compared to prior injections that did not work.
