Well, I was started on Lyrica, 75mg 2 times a day. The first night I started having charlie horses and a few new pains I hadn't experienced before. The next day....look out, I had energy, wasn't in near as much pain and was in a good mood for the first time in months. My 12 year old even commented and said that I should stick with them because I wasn't grouchy now.
When I told the nurse how well it was working other than a couple of new little pains she let the doc know. I also had to let her know that my hubby was layed-off of work this morning and we would be losing our valuable insurance so whatever we needed to get done it should be ASAP. She called in a RX for 160 mg of Lyrica and raised my thyroid meds from 175mcg to 200mcg, because my thyroid level that should be between .45-4.67 was 39.91
which is extrememly hypothyroid.
She also ordered a sleep apnea link, which I know that I have serious sleep apnea and narcolepsy which I was diagnosed with about 4 or 5 years ago. I was also told that I definately need to get the lumbar region double fused but chances are it won't happen before the insurance runs out, after that it is a pre-existing conditions
which means it won't happen because I cannot afford it. It's going to be rough for a while but at least she gave me something that will help for the pain. I doubt I will be able to work yet. I also have to worry about my son because he is having some serious problems...Has anyone ever heard of what could cause bruised fingertips and bleeding at the cuticle by touch, that's just a couple of his many symptoms. Sorry, I guess I shouldn't ask about his symptoms in this forum. Oh by the way most of my blood work came back fine. Still wondering what is going on.
Thats great that you are doing well on the lyrica already. I have recently started taking it as well but find I am soooo tired taking it. My dosage is 75 mg 2x day, as well, to be gradually increased if I tolerate it well. I cant imagine taking more! Im not sure how expensive it is because the dr. gave me a bunch of samples to try.
My copay on the stuff is $38.00 so I think it is rather pricey. I too was given samples to start. I am kind of worried about the side effects that I read about in the pain med forum....weight gain, memory lapses, increased vertigo. We will see once I increase the dose, that's when everyone says the side effects were worse. We shall see.
By the way I am also suppose to continue taking the Lortab 7.5 with them for a few days and then see how much I can cut the Lortab out. Who knows.
Hi
I have been on lyrica (2 50mg six times a day)now for a year, and as like you it has given me more energy than I ever had. The only side effect was that more energy gave me insomnia. But this is a small price to pay.
Good Luck! Hope it works for you.
