Fingers Get Stuck?

Has anyone ever had their fingers get stuck in the bent position to where you have to use your other hand to straighten them out? This started about two weeks ago and was very painful. Now, the pain is gone but the fingers are still getting stuck. I am wondering if it may be arthritis starting in my hands. Any input appreciated.

When my Dr put me on

When my Dr put me on Skelaxin my hands and fingers curled up like a ball and like heck I also had pain in my knees and feet then it started to go down my arms and legs and I stopped the medication. The pain went away within 24 hours and in 48 hours I was back to normal.

I wonder

if it could possibly be wellbutrin doing this to me? That is the only new med and I started it about 3 weeks ago. I am also having horrible pain in my feet, calves of my legs and hamstring. I feel like I just ran a marathon and reality is that I can hardly move with all of this pain. Thank you so much for that info. BTW-What is skelaxin? is it a nerve med?

Fingers Get Stuck

I don't know if I had the same problem as you but my ortho doc told me mine was called trigger finger. Its kind of like carpal tunnel because the sheath where the finger meets the palm of the hand is inflamed and the tendon cannot slide thru easily. I have to make sure when I go to bed that I do not make a fist when I put my hand up under my head or I wake up with the problem.

Google trigger finger and see if your symptoms match. My doc told me to keep my fingers straight as much as possible because a cortizone injection for the inflamation is very painful.

Hope this helps.

Ouch

5 fingers? I am sure this is what is going on with me. I fit the symptoms exactly. I have a habit of typing really hard and holding a pencil or pen too tight. I actually wear the letters off the keyboard. I actually thought that it was carpal tunnel at first as my sister has had surgery on both hands for it. I am trying to keep my hands straight while sleeping and lighten up on the keyboard and it seems to help somewhat.

stuck fingers

I have the same symptoms in my right hand. I also have it happen in my foot.
The pain lingers the next day as soreness. It is a weird feeling, but glad to know I am not alone.

Actually

I have an appointment with a hand specialist in the morning. I will let everyone know how I make out but I looked up the symptoms of trigger finger and it fits me to a tee. I just hope that I do not need to have surgery. I asked my GP about a hand brace and he said that they don't work. I will post back after appt.

Trigger Finger It Is!

My ortho doc says that she never advocates self diagnosing via the internet but I was correct! She said that there are 4 stages and I have stage 3. She gave me the cortisone injection and it really was not bad at all. My hand is very sore now but the injection was not bad. I am supposed to wait 1 month. If it is not better than I can try 1 more injection. If that does not work than it will be surgery. I am determined that it will work. I also have to go to a neurologist to get a NCV and EMG which my ortho told me was very uncomfortable but she is concerned that I may have a compressed nerve in my neck. So, for anyone that has this you may really want to see a hand specialist. It will worsen with time and it is easier to manage with injections before it becomes advanced.
