It,s best to run this by your doctor as certain foods can interact with prescribed meds and you want to make sure there wouldn't be a problem.

Foods for Osteo

I agree 100% with checking with your Mad as to any changes in your diet. When you do, you might ask about glucosimine/condrointin. I have had one total knee and have had painful knees for years. I started on glucos./condro. about 3 years ago and after about a month, the pain started to subside, and I have taken it religiously since. There is still pain but it has been reduced by 75%. Also, studies have shown that if you take G/C for a year, and then stop, the benefits can go on for up to 5 years.I also use a lot of turmeric, as it helps lower inflammation, as do tart red cherries.
Equally as important, is to know what "not to eat" as sugars, some fats, and other foods can exacerbate inflammation.
There is a lot of good data on google but one has to watch that the site isn't pushing a single or series of products, sites addressing the issue with no motivation other than helping with unbiased data afford the best information. The site below is a good read.
