weird thing, scar, or whatever on my leg. it is gross looking. HELP ME
for the past 6 years i have had a weird thing on my leg. it goes from my foot to my knee. it is a red color and occasionally i have fluid draining out of it. i also have blood scabs and it has a burning pain. my 2nd toe on my foot is paralyzed also. it is gross looking and i can]'t wear long pants due to pain from my nerve. i have lots of drs giving a reason what they think it is. no one with the same diagnosis. one thinks the scar is from a blood clot that i had a long time ago and the clot has irritated the vein in the leg. one thinks it is a circulation issue. i got it after my 4th back surgery. that area is also swollen and the calf is hard but not real big. sometimes my foot swells also if is let the leg dangle. it is really gross looking also. does anyone have an idea what is gong on or what this is? apparently drs are not worried. i had one wrap an oxide wrap around it. i was allergic to the oxide and had to take it off. i am now taking a form of water pill to reduce swelling. i got this after back surgery. never had it after other back surgeries at all. it is not congestive heart failure either or a blood clot. i can tell you what it is not but not what it is

3/ALIF done 29 dec 2011 .at 4 months most of the surgical pain has gone but the right hand side lower back ache {the problems i have had for many years is as bad as ever } i feel like i will never get better my mobility is a lot worse too ...

I got something similar after surgey.
A purple/red/brown pigmentation appeared on my left shin and I could tell by comparing with my other leg, that there was some swelling. It spread and now covers the whole shin area. It is very sore if I knock it and if I get a cut or bruise it takes forever to heal up. If exposed to sunlight for any length of time it quickly becomes red and sore
Like you, I have also brought it to the attention of
my GP and other doctors and no one seems too bothered.
I had some tests (comparing blood pressure, biopsy)
and was told it was just some "leaky valves" in my veins.
If I get a scratch I apply antiseptic cream immediately and continue to do so until the scratch is completely healed. This seems to help.

5 years and none of the drs can put a definitive description of what this is. i got it after my last fusion. this is the leg with the nerve damage and now part of my foot is paralyzed. i also had some fluid leak out of it right after surgery and it swelled up. not some swelling but no fluid just skin flaking off and red color.
oh well, if it does not kill me i guess
