I dont believe what the Dr say about this being an age thing, I am 36 and my Dr is saying my life is basically over bye the rate my disc are going i will be in a wheelchair by the time i am 50 or before .. the Diease is moving up my spine ... some trials with Epidurals and stuff from the pain Clinic did not help any at all .. the meds seem to be the only help ..

Hi Donna

Welcome to Spine-Health.

Well, personally, I have a difficult time believing that there's nothing they can do, especially surgically. If I were in your shoes, I'd get another opinion. I don't know what kind of doctor told you that, but I'd be sure to see a fellowship-trained spine surgeon, ortho or neuro, but one that only works on spines.

Everybody has DDD, it's just a matter of if it becomes symptomatic or not. Some will go their whole lives with DDD and never feel any pain where others may have problems with it in their 20s, 30s, 40s, etc.

Good luck to you and I hope you find a doctor that will help you make a plan of action if it's possible, and I believe with the right doctor, that's possible.

Cath

My doctor lied to me and

My doctor lied to me and said all I have is "muscle tightness" in my back, yet when I asked for a copy of the report it said I had DDD and that my spinal stenosis had worsened.

I think it might be worth getting 2-3 more opinions because some doctors are just beyond useless
