foods n fibro

There are two primary reasons fibromyalgia patients have problems with certain kinds of foods. The first of these is strictly related to the fact that your sensation threshold is greatly reduced. The second is that a prolonged activation of the fight-or-flight response can actually alter your body's ability to utilize, store and release carbohydrates. Vegetables that are part of the nightshade family of plants contain chemical alkaloids called solanine and nicotine. These can trigger pain in some people. I'm curious

I'm curious if the folks here with Fibro follow a special diet. I ask b/c I have heard of people with Lupus (who generally also have fibro) sometimes do follow a special diet.

I am asking b/c I an really thinking about changing my diet to see if it helps with my daily chronic back pain (post surgery). I do know certain foods make me feel better over time than others. If I keep a low-carb diet, I do find I feel better in general. Though, I do LOVE my carbs.

I'll poke around but curious what people's experiences are here.

I so believe so, I am just starting

hiya Dnice,
OH I was bad bad for wks here. And I am feeling it. I never ever eat chocolate, been eating large bars, I feel horrible.
I have to get all my allergy results in am.
So I am starting for sure, going to do a journal and maybe blog it, with food, pain, and other conditions I have.
Lung, asthma, copd, I now notice big changes have to be made I was in bed last yr. most of winter.
If my hubby n kids would move from Chicago I would be in better climate. I told them one more yr. And I am leaving for sure.
Food plays big part of it, also I know I have had the worse issues with my teeth, I am now starting to do a very strict hygiene with that, when you have bad dental wow thats big part, all off that adds to our issues also.
I have been reading alot of research with all the issues and the different things ppl eat, and do.
Many many questions need to be asked of a poss. fibro patient. Also chronic pain ppl.
Allergy test, dental, the food we eat is key .
My niece did a wheat free week cut her carbs, and wow she has sleep for first time in 15 yrs. and her asthma is great. she had these rashes of hives... hers was all related to wheat... so took long time. but she kept journal and started one item at a time.

good luck to you ...lets research this and share info okay. I would love all your tips also.
