I recently had an MRI thru KNI. It listed several things among them, partially conjoined right L5 and S1 nerve roots. I am having severe pain around the tail bone, buttocks, down legs into feet. My pa red the report and said this should not cause this much pain. From what I have read it can. Can I myself make my own appt., with the Kalamazoo spine institute??
I would follow up with a specialist. Often times things are missed on reports. I would get the films (cd etc) and try to get an appt with either a NS or OS (even a neurologist). And yes the L5/S1 stuff you describe could cause pain, but it may actuallt point to something else. A fellowship trained spine surgeon can get a lot more out of the mri than a pcp or a rediologist.
Hang in there,
Julie
I am not a doctor, my opinions are not meant to be medical advice. Just opinions from my personal experiences dealing with multiple spinal issues.
Thanks for responding, they are now ordering a nerve conduction study. I tell you with the Fibromyalgia I am used to pain but like I said this is clearly different and makes it hard to be on my feet.
Your Family Dr. could send a referral to where you want to go to if you want to go to that particular hospital. But sounds like you need another opinion. Best wishes. Charry
