Degenerative Disc Disease

Calcified disc - any information?

Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone has had any diagnosis of "disc calcification"? History: 31 yr old female diagnosed with chronic disc herniations (L3-S1) in 2002 and the CT showed osteophyte formation on all discs. The MRI in 2008 did not show this. Microdiscectomy surgery on L5-S1 level this past October confirmed this disc was calcified.

I was wondering if anyone knows what is the significance of having 'calcified discs'? Is there further progression of disease to be concerned about? Thanks in advance for any help.

Not Sure

but I THINK that is when the disc dries up. Did you try checking conditions at the top of this page? There is lots of info there. Good luck to you.
