New poster here. I ask for & keep my medical reports - I believe the hospital mixed up my CT scan with another one for the following reasons.
First, the report the doctor gave me yesterday shows the scan was done on January 8, 2010 at 22:21 - this is incorrect.
My scan was that day at 21:15. I showed up early & was taken in early; I was out of the hospital prior to 21:30.
Second, the report does a comparison with a “previous CT study dated 9 April, 2008”.
My one & only prior CT scan was done five years prior to that - on 23 June, 2003
Third, the summary of the new CT scan states:
Mild to moderate central spinal stenosis and foraminal stenosis at the C5 - C6 level and at the C6 – C7 level is again demonstrated. There is minimal change from 2008.
Ignoring that I did not have a scan in 2008, I will highlight the comment from my 2003 report.
There are significant abnormalities at the C5 - 6 and C6 – 7 levels. There is severe degenerative change at the C5 - 6 level with resultant central spinal stenosis and severe bilateral exit foraminal stenosis.
Large posterolateral osteophytes encroach on the central spinal canal and exit foramina as well as the lateral recesses.
There is a large left posterolateral disc herniation at the C6 – 7 level, which compresses the left side of the spinal cord and impinges on the exiting nerve root.
A posterolateral osteophyte is seen within the right lateral recess at the C3 - 4 level but the rest of the C3 - 4 level was not included in the scan.
It appears to me that the new CT scan shows my spine is much better than six years ago - but I am not positive what all the medical terms mean...
Does it appear I am correct that they have mixed up my scan with someone else's??
It definitely appears that way from where I'm sitting. I have gotten someone else's op report instead of my own before. The office where these reports were generated used one large printer and unless they paid attention when they grabbed stuff, they may inadvertently grab the wrong report. Can you contact the office where the report was generated? If you are counting on your doc getting the right report, then definitely get to the bottom of this as quick as you can.
