I'm looking for a surgeon in the Kansas City, Columbia, Jeff City or St. Louis Missouri areas that might do a laser assisted surgery for herniated disk causing siatica (L-5,S-1). I think it is called Percutaneous Endoscipic Discectomy.
Also if anyone knows about this stuff, I have been an avid horse rider all my life. The specialist (quack) I went to in Columbia, told me I needed surgery that involved metal cages placed on my spine, I probably wouldn't get pain relief and that there wasn't any type of surgery available out there that would allow me to ride horses again.
Needless to say, I didn't like that answer. He also told me my back didn't look that bad and that I shouldn't be in much pain. I guess when looking at my x-ray he didn't see that besides a herniated disk I also have scoliosis and arthritis in my back!
If you know of any suregeons in my area, please e-mail me directly. mddrake1966@yahoo.com Thanks, Michelle
I too rode horses as a youngster and that seems to be the source of my problems. Unfotunately I've been told I won't ever ride again. I have different problems, so I can't give you any advice, but I just wanted to say "Good Luck!" I know how heart breaking it is not to be able to ride, I hope you can find a way to make it work.
