I had a cervical fusion and looks like I needed carpal tunnel surgery. How could this be.

Has anyone else had this problem.

And to top that off the fusion did not join so I have loose hardware and lots of grinding there. A failed fusion only means a refusion to stablilize the area.

Anyone had a EMG thas way wrong?

  • I can't believe that.
I intially went in as I was suffering terribly from carpul tunnel. I thought that it was so bad that was why my arm shoulder & neck hurt so bad.
So they will have fix the failed fusion plus have carp surgery?
I am really sorry that you are going through this.
  • I can't imagine having to go through this and then find out you didn't have to but I had a failed fusion too. I had my first surgery in May '07 and two screws came completely out of my vertebrae and the plate and migrated down my neck. I've had three surgeries in four months and have been in a neck brace for seven months. I now have permanent nerve damage and am worse off than before. You're not alone. It is extremely unfortunate and some how you will get through it. If you want to chat about it I'm here for you. My experience was not a good one, but I learned a lot! Not that it is near over for me. Just know that you're not alone. Take care ~Jan
