Butt Pillow! Where to get one?

Hi guys,

First post on the new forums I think, wish they hadn't changed them, so many threads in the last one I didnt have a chance to respond too...

Anyway, I am looking for a butt pillow, preferable inflatable like those airline neck pillows that can simple be inflated and deflated as needed and can fit in my bag. I need to go to coffee shops often for hours and need to sit, in sometimes very uncomfortable, low chairs, or sometimes overly hard or soft chairs that put pressure on my lower back making it very difficult to sit.

Anyone know where I can buy something like this? Any one have any experience using one? Results?

Thanks.

Problems: Have a herniated disk in L5/S1, diagnoised by MRI two years ago. L5 is a black hole, and L4 is losing fluid. Main issues now are pain in lower back, mostly muscle.

Treatments: acupuncture, degenerative disc disease, exercise/stretching, lumbar herniated disc, massage, minor scoliosis, some bone stenosis in the neck.

About me: Looking for new strenghening exercises for lower back and abdomen. Also looking for height friendly furniture and a forumula to calculate if you are this tall then how tall should your desk, chair, and other things be to make you feel more comfortable.

  • Have you tried looking at a travel store (luggage store)?
  • I had thought about a travel store, will check there.

A body pillow is way tooooooo big to be carrying around a city in a suit, or for any reason for that matter.. It won't deflate either..
  • that I just saw a small jel pillow that may just work in a magazine that I just got in the mail. try their website
    collectionsetc.com

    Good luck!
  • You can go to any home health store and get an inflatable donut pillow. It is actually for hemmoroids but I have used one when I have pain in my tailbone and it helps.
  • You know what painintheback, I have hemmoriods too, and your idea seems like the best so far, killing two birds with one stone, now all I need to do is find one here...
    Thanks!
  • be fairly easy to find. Any home health aids store would have them and probably most of the chain drugstores like walgreens. Glad that I could help.
  • Hey Tall Guy it's great to see that you made it to the new forum.

Painintheback, Tall Guy lives over here in my neck of the world (Asia) and the selection of stores is dramatically different!

The hemmoroid cushion is a great idea though and I have seen those sold in Japanese drug stores, so maybe he may have some success in his area.

Tall Guy, still no luck in finding a furniture formula?

Well anyway it's great to see you again!

  • Hey guy I need to copy over all the old stuff, as I never responded, I made it back here months ago but didnt post. Not liking the new forums at all.

    Glad to hear from you.

Yeah, no Walgreens here.. No Walmart either! ha ha

No luck on furniture formula, and it is getting crunch time becuase I bought a house, so that means I can do whatever I want as far as height goes.. I am thinking around the 90cm high mark for the kitchen counter and bathroom sink, give it a test and tell me if you think that is high enough? Forgot how tall you are...

As for the pillow, will see if I can find something in one of the hospital drug stores, just a little embarassed to be carrying that thing around everything, probably doesnt look much like a pillow.. But I guess you haev to do what you have to do right...
  • survive without Wally World? I did not even know that life existed without Wally Worl! lol
  • My counter tops are 89cm and I am 180cm tall. 90cm would be okay, too much higher and it would make cutting vegetables difficult. When it comes to washing dishes though I have to stoop over more than I like. So since you are taller than I am you could probably even go with 95cm.

Even if you get a hemmoroid cushion, just get a round pillow cover for it and no one will know the difference!

  • 89 eh, well that is much better than what I have now... I was thinking somewhere around like 94 or 95, but then my wife is only like 158 so for her it may be a pain. Had thought about instaling some pull out stair for her underneath the cabinets, but not sure how well that would work, and how much it could potentially cost.

I have not been able to find any inflatable hemmoroid cushions, most of them seem to be already inflated or rubber, found a site http://www.wisdomandhealth.com which seems to offer some of this stuff, but not sure if they ship overseas, haven't been able to get anyone on the phone yet.

Seems like a nasty typhoon is on the way, you feeling it?
  • I think a pull out stair would be doable and really not that expensive. Might be a pain in the neck (and dangerous) for her though unless she is used to using steps and ladders. I know this may sound crazy, but what about a half and half counter. Say the left side and left sink basin are 85cm and the right side 95cm. I've seen it before in large kitchens.

Yes the Typhoon is giving us a nice "breeze" and dark skies at the moment, plus a nice break from the heat and humidity. They still keep saying it's going to head closer to you and then turn towards us, but she keeps tracking towards us and getting stronger.

Whoever does the storm names goofed up. 6 years ago to the week, a typhoon of the same name sat on top of us for 72 hours and did quite a bit of damage. I guess when they use this name it tells the storm to "go slowly" or something wierd.

Most places are shipping overseas now. I have gotten pretty good at finding alternative sites if the first one I try won't ship. Or a simple phone call works since their webmaster may not have set the website up to accept overseas addresses.

    Stay safe,
