Need surgeon recommendation in SF area

Hi, I am asking for all who read this for a surgeon who specializes in disc replacement. We live in San Francisco. My partner had micro discectomy sugery at L4/L5 a year ago. Now, one year later has an even larger herniation at the same level. His previous surgeon told him no choice but to have spinal fusion. His two older sisters both have lumbar disc herniations at three different levels, so he has a family predisposition for herniated discs, even withhout having fusion sugery. I know my parter can almost be guaranteed more surgeries if he opts for the fusion surgery. We are looking for a second opinion, hopefully from a neurosurgeon who specializes in disc replacement. My partner is on major pain meds at this point. I realize we then have to find out if there is any chance if our Healthnet HMO insurance will pay for this type of surgery. Anybody have any advice/recommendations?

Thank you.
