:H hi everyone!

Well i finally heard from my surgeons office last night.I didn't talk to my surgeon,i talked to another one that is in his department, its a teaching hospital and there's six or seven there.I talked to my surgeons assistant and she asked this man to come and talk to me after he heard that i was in an accident he was concerned and had some questions for me.I told him that i was rearended and that some of the sypmtoms i was having before my surgery had come back, that i was having alot of pain all over the place and that i had numbness again in my arm and hand and toes and that i keep getting chill bumps on my one leg.i told him that i had gone to the hospital on friday and had some x-rays done and they determined that i had whiplash and gave me a perscription for a muscle relaxant and one for pain meds.He told me that after a fusion surgery when someone is in an accident they worry that the hardware may have loosened or that there were nerves that were pinched. He said he's giving me to thursday to feel better and if there is no change then they will get me back in to get checked out and make sure that my neck is still stable.I know that this is supposed to be a good thing that i finally got some kind of answer from them but now i'm freaking out that there maybe something else wrong again :SS .When i had the diagnosis of soft tissue injury i was happy that my neck was fine and that i will eventually feel better and now the worry of something being wrong in there is back again. What a crazy rollercoaster i'm on ,i just want off :S Am i worrying over nothing,or being to dramatic, maybe or maybe not,i've been through so much i just want a smooth ride back to a healthy life,IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR! ~X(

  • i dont know how long ago your neck surgery was? if it was me and i was hurtin alot i would go to the er of that teaching hospital in a heart beat :SS . u can read below in my signature what i went through and it started out as a traffic accident like yours. first doc took xrays and sent me to pt. i went to the er 3 wks later as the numbness wouldnt go away. er doc said pt could of killed me :O . i hope u get better and it turns out to be nothing much, but i will still pray for u.
  • I'm so sorry that all this is taking so long! Have they done anything for the inflammation from the accident? That in itself can cause a lot of the symptoms you're having and it may be hard to get it back to normal since your fusion was still pretty fresh.

The hardest thing is not to worry but I have to say it anyway......try not to worry. The hardware is strong and it's in your bone- not the graft. Chances are it's still in place. My fingers are crossed for you and I'll send good vibes your way. Let us know the minute you hear something!

  • they just gave me muscle relaxants and narcotics for the pain.i was on anti inflammatories right after the accident for the first two weeks, they didn't seem to do anything for me.i'm still having numbness and pain and i'm extremely tired all the time again.I went and had a massage last week and my massage therapist told me that i looked like i did before i had the surgery done.THANKS I NEEDED TO HEAR THAT!Well i have to call them back tomorrow and let them know how i'm doing,no changes yet so they said if i wasn't any better they would schedule another checkup. I really trying not to worry but its very hard to do.
  • Hang in there! The good thing is that the surgeon's office is taking this a seriously as they should and keeping an eye on you.

    Keep us posted,

  • Its been almost a month since the accident and the last few days i've been so nauseous.I thought that i would get away without having that. 8} When i fell a few months back i felt sick right away and it lasted for a few weeks but with the car accident i didn't have any just the pain and numbness and i thought wow no nausea, damn just when i thought i was going to be without it it pops up. :&
  • Sending good thought your way. I sure hope all gets better for you.
  • Make sure you let the doc know about the nausea when you talk to them, if you haven't already.

Is the nausea in the stomach or is it the type in the jaw area just before you start to drooooool?

Fingers and toes crossed for you.

  • well its in my stomach but this morning it was bad enough that my mouth was watering,i went into the washroom because i was sure i was going to be sick.Is there a reason why you ask that?
  • I have had nausea or the feeling of being nauseated caused by tight muscles in the neck and jaw. Sorry I was thinking out loud and was just wondering if possibly the whiplash you had from the accident caused these muscle to become tight, bringing on the nausea.

  • Hi everyone, got a call back from my surgeons office late last night,i had to call yesterday morning to let them know how i was feeling since i talked to them on monday and i left a message saying that my pain was a bit better but there really hasn't been much change at all in how i was feeling. So they told me last night to come in for an x-ray first thing this morning for 9am and then to see him at 10am.I don't live in the same city as the hospital its a three hour drive for us so we had to leave the house for 6am,up at 5:30.sooooo tired!!!! @) But it eased my mind that a specialist was actually looking at me.They always do an excellent job there i really like my surgeon. So anyways they said that the hardware still looks good.Everything is where its supposed to be,but he was concerned that i was having some new numbness since the accident so he's setting up an mri for me as soon as possible. He still thinks that it all may be whiplash but he's checking out everything first.Thank goodness thats over with i feel much better. LOL
  • That's cool. Glad to hear the hardware is intact and that they are really taking a hard look at everything. At least now you can rest easier and that in itself should help with relaxing the muscles in your neck and shoulders.

  • That's excellent! It's always nice when they make things go a little easier and quicker.
