I am now nearly 9 months post op L3-S1 PLIF and am seeing my surgeon on Tuesday for what I hope is the final visit.
I am having a CT on monday to check for fusion and if all (fingers crossed) is fused fully I wont need to see him again.
I am now writing a list of questions to ask.

So for any of you that have had a final check-up do you have any questions you wish you had asked or even did ask that may be helpful. I would really apprecieate any input.

Blessings Sara O:)

  • I went to see my doctor at 6 months and was fusing well BUT NOT ALL THE WAY but now he doesn't want me to come back until 12 months out which will be in April. I am hoping when I go in he will say that I am DONE!.
My one question that I want to ask is why do I still get what I call twitches which is quick pains that go away after a little while. He told me before the surgery that once I am done I will be normal and finally have normal back pains but when I do too much standing or just do too much (i'm sure you all know what I mean) then I get pains that shoot down my legs, my feet feel like I jumped off something high and landed flat footed, my ankles sometimes feel like they are sprained, and I get nerve twitches down my legs. I figured that by now these pains would be gone. I am just wondering if they are here to stay or if there is more that needs to be done.
  • Thanks for your reply.
Yes I to still have a few pains and aches that i want to ask about.
I get a burning patch in my back that feels like I am standing next to a heater but it is coming from inside not outside. I also still get what I think is referred pain to my ankles, knees and the sides of my feet, so I need to ask about this as well.
Majority of the numbness I had is gone, now any numbness is dermatone and not the heavy cant pick my feet up kind which is fantastic.
What level/s did you have done?

    Anyone else have input?????
    Blessings Sara O:)
