Hi all! I haven't posted in a couple weeks I only got in to see my new P.M. doc yesterday and boy was it interesting. Left me first give you all a little background about my condition. 8 years ago I was diagnosed with 2 bulging disc L4-L5 and L5-S1 (I know common area) facet syndrome and arthritis. I was off work for about 2 years did the P.T. Tens, Meds. and a breast reduction. No help, Doc told me to sign up for SSID. I did was denied filed for chapter 7 lost everything my husband and I had worked for. And I hadn't even seen a specialist my doc woundn't give me a referral but let me go back to work either! Anyway we lost our insurance and I went back to work and another job (we had to feed the kids somehow) anyway for the last 5 years I have worked several jobs only making it for about 7-8 months at a time and my back problems get in the way. I Dec. I feel in the parking at work and on w/c for it. Went to w/c doc and he basically told me to lose weight and all my back problems would go away (mind you he new I had a history of the 2 bulging disc). I told w/c I was going to my own doc. I did he did a new MRI and now the L5-S1 is herniated and my left leg is messed up! My doc was appauled that the w/c doc did not help me but made me worse. So anyhow I went to new P.M. yesterday and he is wonderful he also was very upsset that my condition had gone on without the proper treatment for so long. He is giving me my first EPI on Feb.3 (wanted to do it right then but I didn't have a driver with me) He said that he thinks there is perm. nerve damage to the left leg. and that I should think about surgery. He said we will try 3 EPI's but its only a 70% chance. He thinks I should find different work or SSID. Well I have beat him to the punch on that one because my Primary doc. already told me he would not release me back to my old job and he would help with whatever needed for SSDI. I have also spoke with voc rehab and they said that with my medical conditions they wouldn't be able to find any suitable work for me the only thing they can do is a functional cap. test. I have a lawyer for smy SSID. case this time and they think they can win for me Keeping my fingers crossed I kknow it will take a while her in Illinois the trails are out 8-10 months. Anyway I was wondering do any of you think that I should talk to a lawyer about the w/c doc. not giving me the proper treatment. and just wanting toget me out of there and back to work asap! Sorry for such a long post I just needed to vent! I keep up with all of your post and my heart goes out to all of you!

  • Yes, why not bring up the w.c. doctor to your lawyer? What would it hurt, right? I'm sure that's all too common with w.c. doctors - after all, they're helping the company I believe, not YOU, the patient. Unfortunately, our country is run by money, not caring adults who want to help all they can. I hope things go well for you. I'm glad you got a doctor who is on YOUR side... what a relief, huh?

I will keep you in my prayers - I hope things work out for you.

  • If you had the right treatment to begin with you would be a lot better off than you are now. I would talk to a lawyer asap. These w/c docs work for the company and not in your best intrest. Good luck...Hope it works out.
  • thanks for your responses, it gave me the courage to pickup the phone and call a lawyer. I told my story to her and she was practically begging me to let her take my case she said that I have a very strong case. She said there was doc. neglect and that I have more than enough evidence in my favor. I told her to send me the paperwork. Even though she gets 20% of the settlement its money well spent because the doctor nots the one thats gonna have to use a cane the rest of his life!!! And I have a notion to report him to the state! I just worry about work finding a way to fire me but she said let them try and we'll sue for that too! I'll keep you all up to date.... and again thanks all!
