I am migraine suffer who only gets relief from imitrex injections. My recent MIR showed the following:
C3-C4 slight posterior broad based annular bulge no protrusion.
C4-C5 mild disc space narrowing, slight posterior broad based annular disc bulge no stenosis or narrowing.
C5-C6 prominet disc space narrowing and posterior broad based spondylitic bulge with moderate stenosis. There is slight ventral cord indentation noted. no narrowing.
C6-C7 focal disc space narrowing and anterior hpertrophic spurring noted. There is a slightly more prominent posterior broad based spondylitic bulge noted with moderate central canal stenosis. no cord indentation or narrowing.

Went to a neurosurgeon on 1/23/09 and he said no surgery needed. Having severe pain in back of shoulder with tingling of both hands. Nerve conduction test showed severe carpal tunnel and pinched nerve of C5-C6 level. Doctor also told me I had no natural curve of the neck which is genetic and there is nothing he can do for me. However, he did recommend I see a hand surgeon to correct the carpal tunnel.
I wake up every morning with a migraine or severe headache and have weakness down the right side of my body. However the neurosurgeon said this is not a neurological problem
Would appreciate opinions.

  • I would get another Neurosurgeon's opinion. Without nerve compression no Dr. would operate but I find that unusual if you're having migraines. Your PCP should refer you to a Pain management Dr. as well as another Neurosurgeon and a hand specialist. Are you on meds for nerve pain? Also the Pain Management Dr. may be able to help your headaches. Take care. All conservative measurements should be done before surgery is contiud. Get lots of opinions first. Charry
