Soft Tissue Swelling after micro discectomy ?

Anyone had soft tissue swelling near the L5-S1 area after micro discectomy ? Is it a part of natural healing process ?

Any views would be welcome.

I had to take an MRI after 45 days of my L5-S1 discectomy due to cauda equina symptoms and the result showed some soft tissue swelling around the incision site.

  • I had my surgery on Sept 29th and I still am having problems with swelling. I think if you over do things too much you will have this issue. I am someone who needs to be doing things all the time and the more I try to do right now irritates it. I use ice to help bring the swelling down and ibuprofin to help control it internally. Other than that, rest! And listen to the doctors orders! Of course I know I haven't been lately, but I need to start today!
