Klippel Feil or OPLL anyone?

I have conditions that involve my cervical spine. Every once in a while I like to post to see if anyone else has these conditions.
Klippel Feil syndrome. Is a congenital fusion of the cervical spine. It is rare. I only have one fusion at C 5-6 resulting in DDD. I have spent some time researching it because many Physicians know little about it.
OPLL is Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament. This is more common in Asian men. My Posterior ligament is only mildly indenting my spinal cord.
I had a Posterior Foraminotomy to reduce symptoms of radiating shoulder, elbow pain and tingling. It seemed to help about 50% at first but lately I have been feeling the same symptoms increase. I am going back to my PCP to see where to go from here.
Severe DDD. Klippel Feil Deformity. Cervical Foraminatomy that turned into Lamy. I have tried so many treatments, therapy's and medications.

  • HI I'm glo From Mass. I have one congenital fusion with only a remnant of a disc. The discs above & below the fusion are herniated & 2 herniated discs in the T- spine. I also know a nice lady named tigerleelee in here who has a 1 level congenital fusion. I , like you, have DDD. I also have some other fun stuff with big names- lol

I hope we get to chat sometime. Thank you for posting as it is nice to know that we are truly not alone.

    My Best wishes to you!

  • Do you have any other symptoms of Klippel Feil? Has your Doc actually called your fusion Klippel Feil syndrome. I have repeated ear inflammation and sternum pain that I need to have checked out. I have 2 spleens and needed to wear special shoes with a bar in the middle as a toddler. I also was born 2 weeks late. My mom used meds. in the 50's to try and keep her pregnancies and I wonder if that had anything to do with this. My mom died when I was a child and my dad isn't a very good historian so I hav limited info. Its nice to be able to find someone else with this rare condition.

  • Hi nmac, It was just about six months ago I heard of Klippel fell. I had known about my double scoliosis, but as one MRI came back on my Cervical Spine, my Doc mention the name. My only symptom is pain and always looking for ways to relax my head. From time to time, My C-4 and C-5 are touching my spinal cord, But since the pain in my hips and legs are worst. that is were I live. I only visit my cervical pain and right shoulder moments in a day. Writing this post seems so sad to be in pain.
  • Is the pain from scoliosis? I also have pain from arthritis in my mid feet and left hip. Sometime my hip really is worse than the neck. Hope you are feeling better soon. I try to take each day and do the best I can.

  • I have Klippel Feil Syndrome, and have fusion from c1-c4. I have recently been having terrible lower back pain. I remember being told i have mild scoliosis when I was younger. Do any of you have back pain other then the neck and shoulders? If so, do you have any suggestions to alleviate the pain? Have any of you ever been to a chairopractor? I am considering going to one very soon, but I am concerned about them having a lack of knowledge about klippel feil, and about them cracking my back/neck which is already in a fragile state. I appreciate any ideas or comments of any kind about the syndrome or pain related to it, as I have never actually spoken to another person with the condition.
  • I am a 64 year old women w/Klippel Feil I too have back pain from DDD,scoliosis, DDJ . I suggest you can go to a chiroprator as I do for back pain but NEVER ever have him/her touch your neck. Aging has been the worst factor of having Klippel Feil The 60's for me have been non stop pain in head, neck back shoulders legs etc. I have tried all methods of pain relief and my experience is that they are all temporarily.
  • I am a 50-year-old woman with a mild case of Klippel-Feil - only c4 and c5 are affected. I am more and more suffering from pain in the neck and shoulders. I am rarely comfortable sitting or lying down. As far as chiropractor, it was a chiropractor who discovered my condition, and at the time it didn't occur to me not to have him treat my neck since it helped me a lot. I do agree that with more severe case of Klippel-Feil, neck adjustments may not be appropriate, but I have had great success with chiropractic. The provider needs to be very aware of the condition and how he needs to approach it. I don't really ever want another chiropractor to touch my neck - only my regular one who really helps me. I always have more mobility driving away from the chiropractor's office and my pain is relieved for a time.
