Very odd symptoms - post laminectomy unstability L4/5

I have been getting some very strange symptoms and would be interested if any one else has this too.

Let me explain: In had a laminectomy last April and now have an unstable spine with L4 slipping over L5. It is quite mobile and falls almost back into place when I lie down but the farther I walk the worse is the slippage and I have increasing pain in my right hip and down my leg and find I scuff my feet more. That isn't my problem that most concerns me.

About 3 weeks ago I started to develop an odd sensation that seemed to emminate from my abdomen - It is like a shooting pain without the pain!! It gets worse as the day goes on and eventually effects my head and I start to feel a little giddy and I notice that on movement I feel a slight shudder in my back. First of all it felt like the feeling you get when you are first pregnant and you feel the first flutter kicks of the baby inside, I am not sure if this is a sign that things are worsening.

I am not due for surgery unitl Spring summer as I am trying to lose weight but only a stone has gone so far.

Is this something I should worry about?

Sorry it sounds weird - It is the only way I can explain it!

  • }:) Hi,

I had a 360 fusion with instrumentation at L4/L5 (a few years after a laminectomy at L4/L5). I had L3/L4 start to slide 3 or 4 months after surgery. I had severe pain. My body compensated by growing a bone spur and this was pressing on the nerve. So I had pain and sensations up and down my right leg. I ended up having L1 thru L5 fused after the bone spur was discovered. The body can compensate in strange ways when something is not right. Good luck with your surgery.
