Numbness & Burning Foot & Leg

I am 6 weeks post-op for fusion L5/S1 and although I have had some numbness and burning in the top of my foot and into my toes, usually only when you touch them but last night was the worst, the burning sensation went right up past my knee, I couldn't even stand the feeling of the blanket touching it - is this normal and does anyone know what it means, I am feeling better today (pain meds) I can't take the ocy-contin at bedtime or I am awake all night.
I would appreciate anyones post-op input - I see the surgeon tomorrow but he always says everyone is different, be patient blah, blah, blah - I don't think he has ever had nerve pain.

  • That really sucks Tracy I feel forya, I know where your coming from as far as nerve pain goes, week before my surgery I couldnt move from it being so severe.

What does your surgeon say as far as relief go? As that pain must make it difficult to walk and move about.
  • Im at 8 weeks and had similar issues. My Doc prescribed Nerontin which I think has helped the burning pain.

Its either the medicince or the recovery, but it got better for me!
  • I am taking Lyrica - just started it almost 3 weeks ago, I just saw the doctor and he says it is the nerves regenerating - who knows really - I hope he is right, I over did it today and I will certainly pay for it tomorrow.
    Thanks for the input.
