Any advice for leg pain

maset22mmaset22 Posts: 30
I do believe is sciatica, what convince me was yesterday, as I was getting miserable and started to stretch to relieve some pain. Boy oh boy. A wicked blow like lightning went up to my right groin and stayed there even somewhat today. My Kadian 100mg plus the roxicondone 15mg just don't work as well. those are the only pain pills I have been on almost a year now. I know that even at higher dose it's still not satisfactory. any recommendation to pass on to my Doctor, that have work for you. My Doc probe lidocane between T-12 And L1 With mix results that lasted several days. I know the leg pain is coming from my L4-5; But my case if you remember goes from my Cervical thru my Thoracic ending in my Lumbar. What a let down to think I will be like this the rest of my life. Is there any help out there for me, I am not shopping for pills. Just relieve. Dan

  • There are nerve meds out their like lycira and cymbalta I may have spelled them wrong but there is meds for nerve pain and there are also stretches you can do that may help .I have nerve pain as well and nothing I've tried helps , lucky for me it is not constant, so I haven't tried the med approach yet.good luck
  • Nerve pain does not usually respond all that well to narcotic pain medication. (As you seem to know) There are many medications specifically for nerve pain as dgardineer has mentioned. There is also a spinal cord stimulator. You can find information on this device under Pain Management. Susan
  • Lyrica helps me the best for nerve pain.

  • this is my recommendation and not an advert! its a very high end TENS and external spinal cord stimulator it also has high frequency and radio frequency modes.
its worth a try as acticare will take it back if you find that it is no good for you see
  • I have tried both neurotin and lyrica and really did not get any relief from either. I use my tens unit (I keep a supply of batteries) for a couple of hours and then ice for 1 to 2 hrs until my butt is numb. Most times I can reduce my pain level of 7-8 down to a 4. Unfortunately though I'm laying down during all of this and I don't want to move to set it off again. Some quality of life. LOL
  • Many thanks to all, We that live it, knows it. will try the tens and will check out the acticare. I do take cymbalta for dep. Thanks once againg. Dan
  • I take cymbalta for mine but it doesn't take the pain away, it only decreases the amount of the stabbing, electric sensations. I do have permanent nerve damage however, and it's difficult to treat at times. Sometimes I try using a heating pad briefly on my leg and I also keep it from getting cold. The cold seems to aggravate the problem.
  • One good thing about my leg pain. It does not always goes up to my groin area. I feel bless as long as it stays in the back of my leg. I also want to say I'm grateful for this forum that is helping me cope daily with my situation. much thanks. Dan
