Fentanyl side effects

I took my first dose 50 mcg at 11:00am yesterday, got the best night sleep in 5 years. Anyway, I'm starting to notice dry mouth, sleepiness, my husband says I'm repeating the same stories over and over again. Is this normal? Will it subside? Otherwise, So far I'm so happy with the pain relief. No breakthrough's taken yet!

  • I was on the Fentanyl patch when my youngest son graduated three years ago, and the whole experience is a haze. I was VERY dopey (I didn't drive for the first month I was on it because I was so woozy) and didn't really get much pain relief.

A warning for you; make sure you don't use heat anywhere near the patch....it accelerates the rate that the Fentanyl goes into your system and the effects are scary (I speak from experience!!).

When I finally went off the Fentanyl, I had terrible withdrawal, so if that time comes, take it VERY slow....

Hopefully your pain relief continues and your body adjusts to it quickly.

  • So far I LOVE the patch. Im getting great relief for about 48 hours then it dies off. Side effects are minimal. This is by far the best ive had. Im so glad I tried it. Thanks everyone for all the very informative advice.
