Forgetting to get refill

I guess 'refill' is not quite the right word for either morphine or vicodin.Anyway, I have a medicine organizer that I distribute my meds in for a one week period. These include my diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol meds. They also include my vicodin and morphine.

I got up this morning to do my weekly sort/distribution and realized I had one morphine pill left and no vicodin in my pill bottles for these meds. I didn't panic because I'm on the lowest dose possible on both these right now. I am having a 4 level laminectomy April 8th. My DO says I need these to be low doses before surgery to maximize pain control post-surgery.

When I discovered I was out I called my DO's office and got hold of the on-call doctor. He said it was not possible to fill either today (Sunday). He said I was supposed to keep track of how much I had. This was part of the written agreement I signed when I started these meds.

He said I should be ok with the 1 morphine (15 mg)until I see my DO tomorrow. I also take Lyrica. So far I'm doing fine and its 10 pm Sunday night.

This should teach me to keep track in the future.
