Looking for some helpful info to lead me down the right path. I started with severe pain in my left hip around the end of November. I could not lay on it, sit in a chair, and walking was not bad but still caused problems if I stayed on my feet for a long time. Then the pain I was having went into my mid to lower back and groin and down into my legs. The pain radiates from my left to my right side. (mostly in my left side) It can go from dull and achy to sharp and stabbing at any moment then dull back down again. The back pain is like someone is punching me in the back over and over again. I still am not able to lay on my left side or sit for extended periods of time. Prior to this problem, I was having numbness and tenderness in the back of my upper legs. I also experience a numb spot in my upper back on the right side between my spine and sholder blade. I have had x-ray on my hip and lower spine, I have had ultra sounds, ct scan, and MRI. Nothing is showing up. I'm getting very frustrated.

  • Welcome to the board.

I hope someone will have a suggestion for you. Have you gone to a fellowship-trained spinal specialist, or who was it that ordered your imaging and read the results? Your symptoms certainly sound like those of a lumbar back problem. If nothing showed up on the MRI or CT scan I really don't know what to suggest.

It is very frustrating when you feel the pain but no one can figure out what is causing it. I wish I had something concrete to suggest, but I am unable to come up with anything.
  • Have you had a referral to a Rheumatologist? They would do a more extensive blood panel and be another opinion deciding meds and treatment for you. Hope they find out what's going on. Take care. Charry

Welcome! Sorry you're having so much trouble getting a diagnosis. Do you have a copy of your MRI report? What kind of doctor have you be seeing? Can you get a second opinion?
I know how frustrating it can be trying to get someone to help. Hope you find some answers soon. Just because it doesn't show on film doesn't mean there's nothing wrong. Take care and good luck.
