I curious to hear your stories of recovery- for those that had MISS did it seem your recovery was quicker than posts you read on those that have had open surgery? If I get surgery it would be MISS L5S1 fusion. My doc said out of the hospital same day or next day if no complications and 2 week recovery period. I am curious to hear how your recovery periods went.

  • I had my miss done on 1/29/09, fused at l5/s1, I start pt 3/23/09. Still have some pain and still wear my brace. Most of my pain and stiffness is in the morning. My surgry was suppose to be 2 to 3 hours. Ended up being 10 hours. I did however have surprises for them once the got in an started looking around. I was in the hospital for 3 days.
Good luck to you. I think that staying positive is very important to your recovery. Follow the your doctors instructions, and have help at home.
    Good luck
