I am having trouble getting a pain specialist to even accept me as a patient because I have had a history of alcoholism even though that has not been a problem for years and my wife will regulate my medication for me. It is humiliating to get run out of the office at first appointments with pain docs, even though my wife is with me. They apparently think I am lying and just trying to get schedule II drugs to abuse. I am disgusted with doctors refusing to treat me out of fear or discrimination.

  • I feel your pain. I have had radiculopathy/sciatica for years and have been on narcotics. I had good doctors in Spokane, Washington, who didn't question the veracity of my pain and gave me the meds that allowed me to function- MSContin, Dilaudid, Oxycontin, etc. Now I've moved to Salem, Oregon, and the doctors all look at me like a "Drug Seeker" and refuse to treat my pain. Does anyone know a good Doctor who will treat my pain without judgement or refusal to write prescriptions? I just know what works. The drugs are at the Doctor's disposal but they won't believe a person is in that much pain unless they've crushed their spine. HELP!!! Email me at camdodson@gmail.com
