My Pain Management doctor has suggested this procedure to me and actually I don't read much about it anymore. At one time, I heard it was not really a good thing to have done or it was a procedure that didn't work out very well, I'm not sure exactly, but I just remember it was rather negative.

I realize everyone is different, and this procedure is not actually classified as surgery, however, I have never had any type of surgery on my back, been in pain for well over 5 years now, have had PT, and injections of every kind to no avail. My discogram indicates I have 2, possibly 3 herniated discs, DDD, with annular tears on 2 discs, and mild Scoliosis and I would appreciate any input or information someone might be able to give me.

He seems to think it will work for me, but I am just not that familiar with it. I have researched it and watched an animated version of how the procedure is done...I have not read much about it on any of the posts here.

Thanks so much,

  • I had the IDET done in June '06. I am now on my way to having a fusion. Is the pain doctor going to try to treat the two discs with the tears? I am not sure if it will really work at all if you have DDD. I did not see any improvement from the procedure. I can help you out if you have any questions!
