Hi spineys. PLEASE be careful NOT to fall after your fusion, which I did from a spasm and then broke my L3. Suffered needlessly for 9 wks cause I didnt want to do the surgery to fix it. Thought it'd do it naturally- no way. The bone cement they laid in to the L3 fixed it up and I am in no pain. Im just beyond weak after months of suffering b4 my fusion, 11/20/08 and falling 1/27/09. SOOOOOOOOOOO-be careful how you walk through doorways etc/ You dont want to wind up like I did.

  • Thanks for the warning! I just about tripped on my dog this morning.....she's blind and she tends to walk right in front of me.

Sorry that you had to endure all of that pain.
  • Oh my! Thanks for the warning and I am glad you are ok.
  • My old dog is always under my feet. And the little one is velcro to her. What can you do? Get rid of them....never

Never get rid of them! My dog is 14 years old. I have 2 other little ones. It's hard to not pick them up and the 14 year old dog can't even jump up on my recliner, so I always have to yell for someone to pick her up and put her on my chair with me :) They are all over 10 lbs, so I can't pick up any one of them :(
  • This is an interesting article that you all can relate to:

CDC Analysis Tracks Falls Related to Pets from the Washington Post of March 27, 2009....

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that an average of 86,629 Americans visit the emergency room each year after a fall caused by pets or their paraphernalia.

I know I accounted for two of those statistics!!

  • I hear you guys, I have 4 dogs and have been sent to the dentist for a cracked tooth when one of them head butted me by accident. The dentist still reminds me of that at my cleanings! Gotta love those pets
  • 2 months post op at a furnature store.... there was a trundle bed frame (with no matress) sticking out in the walk way from under a twin bed. I turned and I didnt see it. I tried to rite myself but that didnt happen it took about 15 feet for me to FINISH falling. Thanks to the M.S. making me very tipsy on my feet anyways. I dont need a challange. I still havent gotten a exray so I am guessing that everything is ok. U guys be careful out there.. it sux to fall period....
  • Hello, I have fallen 3 time since my surgery 2 years ago... The dr. said it would take 2 year for the fusion to be completely finished... First fall was just a month after.. didn't get it checked and all seems fine... then did a three gainer off our deck as I have bad knees also and just 3 month prior had a complete shoulder replacement.. well, that time I got them both checked... and I guess I landed the right way, if there is such a thing as I did no damage. When... but just this past Saturday, I was sitting at my desk and reached too low and far for something and the chair slipped out from under me... Not even sure how I landed... as I got up so quickly to see if I could... but now, 2 days later am having some discomfort in the back of my thigh and ever so often needles like pain in my calf and once in a while a pain in my heel... Now what to do.. and WHO to call.. the back dr. or the orthopedic dr. or my reg. dr.. Geeze... Some days I feel 92 instead of 62... Started having to get joints replaced at 54.... what is fair about this... I know, I just try to keep positive and know that there are others worse off then me.... Thanks for letting me vent..
    God Bless You All....
