Well I am going back to work tomorrow, 18 days after PLIF, L5,S1, and I am doing ok and have driven for a few days now. My problem is when I stand up from a sitting position or when I get out of my car after driving for a few minutes. When my weight is on both legs, I feel a dull pain down my right buttock and it extends down my right leg. So, I shake that leg or shift my weight to the other leg or march so that the dull pain goes away and then when I take my first few steps, it goes away. It's almost like my L5 disk is hitting my nerve when I stand up but then the cage that was installed holds it back from hitting the nerve causing shooting pain like I had before surgery. Before surgery I would get this pain and when I took my first few steps I could barely walk because of the pain. Does that make sense? Is that what could be happening or is it just the nerve being inflamed and irritated?
Has anyone had this type of pain after surgery and did it go away eventually?
The xray shows that everything is in place.
