Hello everyone, first-timer here looking for a place where people understand the ups and downs of back pain. A history of me: I am almost 2yrs. out S/P laminectomyL3,4&5. (and another surgery to fix a spinal leak) 4months after the surgery and excruciating pain (that 2 MD's thought I was a drug seeker)I finally got the MRI& wound culture I was asking for. Diagnosis: MRSA, discitis, and osteomylitis in the 3 vertebrae. I got meningitis too and spent 2 months in the hospital. While I am glad to be alive, and have a very supportive husband and family, they don't understand the pain I am in. I've tried many treatments that don't work, and am at my wits end.

whew! sorry for the long cathartic....needed to get it off my chest. In the pain chat room last night, I was met with kindness and humor. For that, I thank you. As I navigate around the forum, I am glad for all the information and don't feel so alone.

  • Hi Grace and welcome to Spine-Health. Oh, you're definitely not alone - you'll find many caring, sympathetic and knowledgeable people in these forums. This is a fantastic place to get the information you need and find others like yourself.

I'm a cervical spiney, but wanted to welcome you and say Hi.

You had a mix of painful situations. As Cathie said, here you will find a lot of information that can be useful,
you can do all sorts of research on this site and you have joined a group that not only provides that, it also can become a great support group.
It is pretty common for people suffering in chronic pain to need additional outlets besides their immediate family.
We sometimes feel guilty that we are complaining over and over to our loved ones, who understand, but not completely.
Here you will find people that have walked your walk and understand completely.
