Laser Spine Surgery

Hi there, I am wondering if anyone has tried Laser Spine Surgery at any one of the emerging Spine Centers around the country. Particularly for the treatment of herniated discs and epidural fibrosis...scar tissue from my previous discectomies. I have had 2 of those and am now facing a fusion since after 2 years, my last discectomy also failed. I don't see the sense in another open back surgery just so I can develop more scar tissue which will then impinge the nerves again. Anyway, everything I am reading makes Laser Surgery sound like the way to go but I'd like to hear some unbiased personal opinions.

Thanks, Eileen

  • Look up the thread, "Does anyone have any info/feedback on Laser Spine surgery?" just a bit below yours. There are some sensible answers there.

  • Hi Eileen,
I had laser surgery in Jan.My only surgery. They went inside the disk's with the laser.I'm in more pain now than before the surgey.
My contact told me 80 to 90% chance of succes for the procesdure.Once out there a doctor dropped it to 49% for the same proceadure. He seemed a bit surprised that I was told 80 to 90%.
I'd be carefull about getting to excited. They make sound so good.Even the surgen told me I'd be running again.
    Best of Luck...
