hello - writing to introduce myself. my "name" is swampskater and i use it because as a child in canada i used to iceskate anywhere i could, including nearby swamps.
i loved to skate more than anything. when we moved to wash. d.c., that pretty much put an end to it but it is a very happy memory.
i was struck by a car @ 20 years ago, standing front of my house. the right mirror of the car hit my lower back and for many years, it was just an unpleasant memory. but eventually, arthritis (they say) settled there and it morphed into a herniated disc. it has been so painful and i've done everything to try to fix it: p.t., chiro, massage, steroid injections, rfl, and lots of opiates. i am going in for a microdiscectomy at the end of may and i'm hopeful that it will help. i'm not optomistic b/c most of my pain is in my back and hip. not so much down the leg, although i do have some from time to time that is very painful.
if anyone has had a microdiscectomy, i'd like to hear of your experience.
thanx and i'm glad to be here!
