I've been suffering in terrible pain, like all of you, since 12/2005. Many mri's, ESI, cortizone, you name it-i've had it! Was diagnosed with small bulges @ L4, L5-S1, so of course was told this was the cause.....until I saw a new hip specialist. 1st visit, and he nailed it on the head!! I had a labral tear in left hip, surgery was on 4/16/09. Also, had another lovely EMG.(previous ones were neg..)it was an "abnormal study", demonstrating "Subacute-Chronic Obturator Neuropathy". I cannot say enough about the gratitude i have for this new team of doctors!!I had literally given up, thinking I was crazy. According to my Hip Dr. the labral tear repair will "fix my hip & buttock pain for the most part. The obtrator nerve problem supposedly causing the pain in groin, abdomen, thigh,& "private female parts". I've read previous posts about some of you having similar symptoms, especially the difficulty with "intimacy"-causing so much pain. I hope that I can shed some light for someone else. Not sure yet how they will fix the obturator problem, appointment May 8. so I'll post the info when I receive it.Sorry for the long post. Wanted to say a lot more, but didn't want to overwhelm. Wishing everyone nothing but the best, Tracy

  • Will you tell more about the pain you had - abdominal, groin, hip, buttock. I continue to have pain in these areas and would love to know more about where/how you felt the pain? Did it depend at all on how you moved or what position you were in - sitting, standing, etc?
  • I would like some info on what the pain felt like. Lately i have been having some extreme pain when I am laying down and cross my legs then lift leg to uncross. Owwweee. Hurts in groin area. Also when sitting and stuff, is this some of the types of pain. I have others this just was easier to decribe.
