Hello all,

I had surgery to relieve a L4/5 disc in 2000 then in 2005 had to have the disc removed along with a facet joint. During the sciatic pain Before the op I suffered a foot drop which has Never recovered. This last few weeks I have been having sciatic pain down my GOOD leg and tingling and numbness in my toes. I also have an irritating itch just at the top of my buttock which feels like something unfer the skin Very strange. I had an MRI last week and am waiting for the results. Tell me people has anybody ever had a double foot drop. Surely it must me very difficult to walk with two foot drops. Im really worried that this may happen. I wear a splint on my leg in the day and I have to have one for nighttime too as when my foot starts relaxing its flops forward which causes terrible cramp in my calf and back thigh muscle. Anybody else had any of this going on?

  • Welcome to Spine health, Heather! I am so sorry that you have to cope with yet another problem. Foot drop is one problem I have not experienced myself, so I can't offer you any advise based on first-hand experience, just wanted to let you know that I hope your doctor can help you. Hopefully, somebody else who went through he same problems will answer and give you encouragement.

Thinking of you and wishing you the best,

  • Let us know your MRI results when you get them. I had foot drop in my RT foot (just had surgery 8 days ago & it's improving some) but I can't imagine having it in both feet at the same time. How on earth do you walk? You'll be in my prayers.
