Tendon transfer for foot drop

AnonymousUserAAnonymousUser Posts: 49,662
I would like to meet anyone who has had a tendon transfer for a foot drop. I had a herniated disc at L4/5 and after a discectomy and a laminectomy I was left with a dropped foot.
The tendon transfer has lifted my foot but I am still paralysed and now my leg is rotating out from my hip so that my foot is pointed at right angles from my body. The physiotherapist is scratching her head as she hasn't seen this happen before. I am having pain on the inside of the knee. Any suggestions how to overcome this problem? Dillwynia

  • Hi new comer. Welcome to our little community. Just wish we could have met under better circumstances...

I do not have a problem with "foot drop". I do understand that it is not a pleasant thing to have. I am sure there are others here who have experience in this area. Maybe, you could look at some of the older posts about foot drop (check out pages 2 and on).

I wish I had something to offer you besides telling you to read more, but I really just wanted to tell you HI and that I hope you can get some relief through physical therapy or what-not. Tendon transfer, huh? That sounds interesting. How long ago was this done? Has the doctor indicated how long until you see some good results?

Well, regardless - welcome aboard. I hope you can get some relief or at least read other stories of people who have the same thing.

    Take care!
