Hello everyone. I was just made maximum medical improvement (after nearly 3 years) and received an impairment rating yesterday. I'm curious to hear from others who have been rated, especially fellow ACDF-ers. Would you mind sharing a brief summary of your "impairments" along with the percentage they rated you at? Just want to see if my number is in line where it should be.

thanks in advance for sharing.

Surviving chronic pain one day at a time, praying for a reprieve because living another 40 years like this doesn't sound too fun!

  • I had a two level fusion C5-C7 three years ago. I was MMI two years ago. I also had a rotator cuff repair and ulnar nerve surgery due to the same accident. I got an impairment rating of 81%. I also have a lot of nerve damage. I settled with workers comp in Feb 2008. I was finally approved for social security disability last week.

  • I have had a three level fusion over the process of 5 surgeries. Was finally released at MMI in January and was rated at 25% referrable to the body as a whole. Along with spine issues I had injured my left shoulder at the sametime and it was rated as 5% of the shoulder itself. While it is clear that I'm stuck with chronic radiculopathy(easy way to say permanent nerve damage) and another level on the way out. I don't think the work comp doctors will change that impairment rating. Now is the part the attorney sends off to her specialist and a new rating is given and they settle some place in the middle, from my understanding. I say all the time while in workcomp situations "I'm just a passenger in this body, till they are done." I might add I don't make for a good passenger though.
