Patella Femoral Syndrome

Has anyone out there ever found a good treatment for this condition? I've been to physical therapy forever, and had a lateral release surgery on one side...and it's still as bad as ever. I have no cartilege left in either knee because of the kneecap being off line, and I'm only 23 years old.

When I last saw a specialist he basically said the only other surgery was actually cutting through the bone and resetting it. He also told me a knee replacement down the line and arthritis was a high possibility.

I don't really want to accept my fate with this, and am curious if anyone has found a way to stop the damage from this condition.

  • About the only thing helping me is the knee braces. Takes some of the pressure away and then comes back. Have they figured out what the underlying cause of it is? For me it seems when they took bone from the illac crest they compressed the nerve that serves the muscle group. That nerve is making the muscle weak so till we fix that therapy is kind of useless cause it will keep happening. I do hope they find something that helps.
