I'm 41 years old and doc wants to do fusion on my L4/L5 but I am scared and looking for alternatives.

  • Welcome to the board. You are a woman of few words! Can you provide a few more details? I assume you need a fusion because you have degenerative disk disease?

What sort of pain are you having? Is it more in your back or in your legs?

Many people on this board have had fusion and would be happy to share their experiences. But, please provide a bit more detail so we know what your concerns are.

I am sorry to hear your in need of a fusion, you will get useful information and support here in the forum. Have you sat down with your doctor and spoken of your fears and any other options?
We have a chatroom on the site where you can chat with people some have had fusions and some who have not yet had surgery, you may find it helpful to chat about your fears.
